The history of the olive tree (Olea europaea) has been intertwined, since the beginning, with the history of man. Cultivated at least since 6 thousand years, symbol of transcendence and natural strength, purification and rebirth, it is the first tree that is mentioned in the history of the world. From its fruits, olive oil is extracted, since forever considered a precious food resource but also a cosmetic and an effective adjuvant for massages.

Olive oil is obtained by cold pressing from the pulp of olives. It has a fluid consistency and a characteristic color, which can vary from golden yellow to green. Its success in the cosmetic field is due to the antioxidant power given to it by the particular concentration of active ingredients: phenolic compounds, chlorophyll, Vitamin E, phytosterols and, above all, oleic acid, the most abundant of the long-chain monounsaturated fatty acids present in our body. These precious substances, with the addition of squalene, one of the main components of the skin, have a restorative, hydrating, emollient and anti-inflammatory action and are able to prevent the signs of skin aging.
