Chestnut honey is a particular honey, characterized by an intense amber color and a rather fluid consistency. It is known for its peculiar antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, due to the significant presence of flavonoids and polyphenols.
It is produced by bees that obtain nectar from the chestnut groves that cover the hilly and mountainous areas, along the Apennines. And it is the only honey that is collected during summer, when the trees are in full bloom.
Thanks to its hydrating, soothing, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, chestnut honey is highly appreciated in the cosmetic field and is often used as an ingredient for masks and applications for skin and hair care.
